This site has information about species at risk in Canada. Start with the English site and do a search by selecting "Endangered" for the risk category. Select a category e.g. Mammals, then click on "Search" for a list of endangered mammals. Then select an animal to get a picture and detailed information about the animal. After you read about an animal in English, go to the French web site and link to the animal to see the information in French. See how many French words you know.

At this site you can see photographs of species included in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). CITES has a membership of 152 countries, including Canada. These countries act by banning commercial international trade in an agreed list of endangered species and by regulating and monitoring trade in others that might become endangered. (The name of the convention in French is: Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore sauvages menacées d'extinction).
