Awareness and Prevention of Harassment Online Training
On behalf of the British Columbia Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA), Open School BC is pleased to offer an online training program for public school employees on harassment in the workplace. This program will provide you with a better understanding of what harassment is, what actions and behaviours might be considered harassment, and what you can do if you feel you’ve been harassed.
This one-hour program covers key harassment legislation and policy; it also includes sample scenarios, as well as a simulated harassment case in video format. This program is only available to BC public school employees.
Fun and effective online format
Harassment awareness and prevention training has traditionally been done by an instructor in a face-to-face format. This new, online program covers the same material in a contemporary, interactive way. Users will learn about harassment through informative online content, video clips, and interactive quizzes.
The videos centre upon a simulated harassment case involving a teacher (Nancy) and her teaching assistant (Joe). Follow along as the tension between them rises. Joe finally boils over and launches a complaint against Nancy, which starts a formal harassment investigation. Learn how the whole situation has affected Joe, Nancy, and the entire school staff. Learn what takes place during a formal investigation such as this one. Witness what happened at the end of Joe and Nancy’s investigation, and where they are now.

All BC public school employees are required to be trained in harassment awareness and prevention. This online course allows employees to take that training when they want and where they want. All they need is a modern computer with sound and an Internet connection.
