Developed by BC teachers, instructional designers,
and multimedia experts Communications 12 meets the learning outcomes set by the
BC Ministry of Education's IRP and address provincial
exam specifications.
Engaging multimedia, forganized into four modules compliments this course. By understanding key concepts and how to develop
skills related to communications in the workplace and everyday
life, we give students the tools they need to succeed.
Topics included are on media literacy, the writing process, workplace
communications, and the appreciation of literature. Practical skills are learned to help improve proficiency
in reading and writing. In addition, students will learn to design and present information, create professional
workplace communications, navigate the Internet effectively, and become informed media and technology
consumers. Communications 12 is available in both print
and online formats.
The Communicate CD-ROM offers a collection of multimedia titles that explains
course concepts including:

Visual Design: interactive guide on the visual presentation of information
Career Path Adventure: career decision-making simulation
Weasels in Wonderland: audio-visual presentation of advertising techniques
Writer’s Resource: interactive grammar tutorials and exercises including a dianostic test
The Teacher's Guide contains a description of each lesson including:
- Supplemental assignments that address prescribed learning outcomes
- Alternative activities to facilitate students learning online, at a distance, or in the classroom
- Additional resources to provide students with a conceptual understanding of course content
- Assignment answer keys and scoring rubrics
- Module tests and answer keys
- Helpful teaching tips for both classroom and online environments
